About Us

How far is Pat Busch Private Nature Reserve from the nearest town?
We are approximately 12 kilometers from the town of Robertson.

Where is the nearest shopping centre for groceries and essentials?
There is a well-equipped Pick ‘n Pay shopping centre in Robertson in Church Street.

Can we bring our off-road motorbike or quad along?
Under no circumstances do we allow any off-road bikes or quads on the nature reserve. With regret we have had terrible experiences with guests arriving with quads, having assumed this would not be a problem. In addition to the wildlife being disturbed, guests are here to enjoy the peace and quiet, and this diminishes the experience for all staying overnight. We thank you for your understanding.

Can we bring our pets along?
We are not a pet friendly establishment and we do not allow any dogs, cats or birds on the nature reserve.

Is there cell phone, radio or TV signal on the nature reserve?
Due to the proximity of the mountains, there is very limited to non-existent cell phone, radio and TV signal at the guest cottages. We therefore are not able to provide TV’s in our cottages.
There is cell phone reception at the Rusticus Vintage Cellar, approx. 4km down the road as well as a WI-FI hotspot (from October 2007).

What can we do on the nature reserve?
There are various activities available, most are free and entail enjoying some fresh country air without having to drive anywhere. Bird watching, hiking and walking, swimming in freshwater mountain dams and fishing are just some activities one could choose from. Pack a picnic lunch and explore the 2000 hectares of exclusive mountain reserve. Bring a mountain bike and enjoy cycling amongst the vineyards and orchards or enjoy some spectacular stargazing in the evening.

How far is the swimming and fishing dam from the guest cottages?
The dam is located on BERG-EN-DAL farm. This is approximately ten minutes walk from the gate at the end of the road. Vehicles are not permitted to drive beyond the gate.

What fishing is available?
The dam is stocked with large-mouth and small-mouth bass and we encourage guests to bring their own fishing equipment, lures and rods. Fly-fishing is also popular.

What do we need to bring along?
Depending on whether you have booked a standard or exclusive self-catering cottage, different items are offered. Please check your booking confirmation letter to be sure. All cottages offer dishwashing liquid, black bags, toilet paper, and complimentary soap. We also provide braai equipment, wood and firelighters for all cottages, so it is not necessary to bring this along.

Do we need a 4x4 to get to the nature reserve?
No. There is approximately 5 kilometers of dirt road to get to the cottages, and although bumpy in places, this is accessible in an ordinary sedan or hatchback vehicle. We suggest not driving faster then 60km on our roads.

Where do we settle the balance of payment?
The balance can be settled at our office during office hours or alternatively with a member of the Busch family when they come by over the course of the weekend, usually between 9 & 10 in the morning.

When is the office open and where can I find it?
Mondays – Saturdays: 10h00 – 16h00.
The office is at Rusticus Vintage Wine Cellar off the main Klaasvoogds West Road. Look out for the black and red sign.

Do you accept credit cards?
