We offer a scenic circular route for avid 4x4 fans which should take 2 hours. This is a serious route recently given an unofficial grade 4 by SA 4X4 Magazine. It is best attempted by an experienced driver.
The route offers a gradual ascent up the fynbos covered flank of Spitzkopf. Close to
the summit the trail becomes very steep with
loose gravel – this is the difficult section
and requires a fair amount of guts to
tackle. For those not wanting to damage
their cars or egos there is always the
escape route option of turning around.
This scenic 4x4 route offers sweeping views
of the Breede River Valley from Robertson to
Ashton and beyond. It is a great spot to
pack a picnic lunch or take along some cold
refreshments. Due to the risk to the natural
environment no fires are allowed. Continuing
over the trail you will descend into a
beautiful valley directly under the majestic
Langeberg range. |
